7 Of The Most Restricted Places On Earth

Humanity has made an amazing amount of progression. It's almost hard to believe that, at one point, there were no vehicles, planes, or technology in general. At one point, expecting to travel the world was such an absurd notion, especially because there wasn't generally a reliable means of knowing exactly where you were. Well, now we're able to do all of those things with relative ease. It's really easy to forget that the internet is just a bunch of data that needs to be stored somewhere. Well, believe it or not, people usually hide that data in heavily fortified areas, like old WWII structures. It goes without saying that those places are off-limits to the public, but they're not the only places that are.

Here are 7 of the most restricted places on the planet.

1. Club 33, United States

Club 33 was originally a restaurant in Disneyland. It ended up becoming a secret club that Walt Disney used to entertain high-class people. A secret panel in the doorway reveals a buzzer, though you have to know how to use it to get in. It was recently opened to the first 100 people who applied, having an initial fee of $25,000.

2. Vatican Secret Archives, Italy

The Vatican Secret Archives belong to the Pope, though they're not actually secret. The only secretive thing about it is that no one is allowed inside without the Pope's permission, not to mention that you can only request to view documents that are older than 75 years old.

3. Mezhgorye, Bashkortostan

Unless you're one of the town's 17,000 inhabitants, you're not getting in. The federal government of Russia has made it so no one can gain access to the town due to the fact that there are secretive Russian companies inside.

4. Snake Island, Brazil

Just off the coast of Sao Paolo, Brazil, is the island referred to as "Snake Island." The Brazillian government has banned anyone from visiting the island due to the fact that it is so heavily infested with snakes, but not just normal snakes. Snake Island is the only place known to have the golden lancehead viper, considered to be the deadliest snake on Earth. To top it off, it is believed to have flesh melting venom. Ouch.

5. Area 51, United States

As many people know (or don't really know, I guess), Area 51 is off-limits to pretty much everybody. Not only that, but no one really knows what goes on inside. We're told it's a military installation, but UFO conspiracy theorists swear that there are aliens and UFOs there. Regardless, Area 51 is one of the most secretive places... Ever.

6. HavenCo, Sealand

While not technically recognized as its own nation, Sealand was formed on a WWII anti-aircraft platform, just off the coast of Suffolk, England. Inside, HavenCo existed. HavenCo was an offshore data center where they would store anything and claimed that they weren't bound by copyright laws because it wasn't under the jurisdiction of any country. Needless to say, unless you were expressly invited in, there's no way you could enter.

7. Bahnhof/Wikileaks, Sweden

There's no doubt you've heard of Wikileaks. They've been publishing information about governments around the world for quite some time. This has garnered them a lot of attention and people want them to be stopped. Luckily for them, their data center is located inside of the Bahnhof's (a Swedish internet service provider) center. Where is it? Inside of the white mountains in Stockholm, behind the steel doors of a bunker built to withstand a nuclear attack.

Superior Emotional Intelligence Comes From This 1 Practice (That Nobody Wants To Do)

If you truly want higher self awareness, do this practice and you'll get it. No matter which successful person I have the honor of learning from, they all mention the same thing--emotional intelligence. Everyone knows that emotional intelligence is important. Thought leaders like Gary Vaynerchuk and Tim Ferris both acknowledge the importance of being self-aware, but few people tend to know what self-awareness is or how to improve it. The conversation in entrepreneur culture needs to shift from talking with buzzwords like emotional intelligence to listening to experts who work with clients to improve their self-awareness each day. Let me spend a quick second dispelling some myths and providing information. Myth: We don't know what self-awareness is. Fact: Self-awareness is insight into one's thoughts, feelings, and ways of relating to themselves, others, and the word.   Myth: We don't know how to improve self-awareness. Fact: There is one scientifi...

7 Harsh Truths Everyone Knows But No One Wants To Admit

Your mindset, your values, and general approaches to life are based on your beliefs. You observe the world through the lens of convictions that you’ve formed over the years. The problem is that those beliefs often get distorted and you deliberately avoid the truth. And the reason for that is simple: the life is easier to enjoy if you don’t embrace the bitter reality. People enjoy believing in what they want to believe because the harsh truth can make people feel embarrassed and miserable. It often requires the change of status quo and the need to challenge the social standards. Unfortunately, most people prefer to avoid changes. They are better off staying within their comfort zone regardless of how bad it is. Become bold enough to admit the harsh truth. Embrace the reality that makes you feel uncomfortable.
