We've all lost something. Maybe it wasn't that important, maybe we assume it will just show up, or maybe we think it's gone forever.
These people lost something dear to them and decided all hope of finding their treasure was also gone. But sometimes life surprises us by letting good things happen, and what once was missing somehow finds its way back to us.
1. A guy's dad lost his reading glasses two years ago.
I would not have expected to find them there.
2. Grandpa hung his skates on a tree when he was young.
He forgot them there, but he found them years later.
3. A couple found these precious keepsakes, a Purple Heart and a dogtag, in a box marked 'trash' in a foreclosed home.
They returned what was clearly not trash to the owner's great-grandchild.
4. A woman lost one of her books, so she ordered a used copy online a few years later.
When it arrived, she saw that it was the one she had lost.
5. This person lost their stegosaurus mug for years.
Then one day their mom surprised them by serving eggnog in it on Thanksgiving. What a sweet way to return a beloved childhood memory to someone!
6. In 1986, a man bought this ticket to go see Prince perform in Copenhagen, but he lost it and missed the show.
He found it 29 years later in the back of a book.
7. A man had lost his wedding ring 15 years ago and thought someone must have taken it.
But then one day while he was planting bamboo, something shiny caught his eye.
8. A high school student had lost their turtle in the library one week.
A few days later, the librarian found him and was able to return him home. Cowabunga, dude!
9. A woman lost her ring while gardening, and it was missing for 13 years.
Her daughter-in-law was picking carrots when she pulled this one up and found the lost ring.
10. Fourteen years ago, this girl became friends with a Fijian taxi driver.
When she went back to Europe they lost contact, but on her trip back to Fiji years later, she found the same man.
11. This guy had lost his iPhone in February.
Turns out it had frozen into the drive way. A month later they found it, put it in some rice, and it still worked!
12. This man had lost his wedding ring in the Atlantic Ocean while swimming.
Four hours later, his wife went up to a woman with a metal detector to ask if she could help them, but the woman had already found the ring!
13. Someone found this man's wallet that had fallen in the ocean.
24 years later, he got it back.
14. In 2007, this waterproof Canon was lost in Hawaii.
Six years later, it was found over 5,000 miles away on a beach in Taiwan.
15. A woman lost an earring very dear to her while visiting relatives overseas.
Two months later, they unexpectedly found it.
16. A guy from Florida lost his ID card over spring break. A little while later, he received a letter showing who had found his ID.
Obviously it was in good hands.
17. This wallet disappeared under the waves of a lake for 20 years before somebody found it.
With the lake's dam under repairs, the water had receded, and somebody out with a metal detector found the York County Correctional Officer's badge.
18. When a boy made the honor roll, his parents took him to Disney World as a reward. Unfortunately, he lost his certificate at the hotel.
Staff found it and added a little something special before returning it.
19. This guy was about to replace his monitor when he found a ring he had lost a couple of years earlier.
Apparently it had been within arm's reach the whole time.
20. This woman found a cane hanging from the top of a fence outside a Dunkin' Donuts.
The cane had a number printed on it, which she called. A grateful old man who had set the cane on the fence three months earlier answered and arranged to pick it up.
21. This phone has seen better days, but the man who lost it five years earlier pulled it out of Puget Sound.
At least, it's likely his — it's hard to say for sure, but how many phones like it would you expect to find there?
22. A guy's dad was hiking with a metal detector when he found this knife.
It had been lost for 40 years under a tree with engravings.
23. Some classic childhood memories.
Someone dropped something between the couch cushions, and when they went looking for it, they ended up finding these marbles that they had lost 10 years before.
